Kind of related, I saw this on another board yesterday:

this is ny times article from 10/2001

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpag...53C1A9679C8B63

''If bin Laden takes over and becomes king of Saudi Arabia, he'd turn off the tap,'' said Roger Diwan, a managing director of the Petroleum Finance Company, a consulting firm in Washington. ''He said at one point that he wants oil to be $144 a barrel'' -- about six times what it sells for now.

"Mission Accomplished". Then again Gore said we need $5 a gallon gas as well to save the planet from global warming. Are you seeing the Gore - Bush - Bin Laden connection?

Definitely, I'm sure they're all Illuminati, or NWO, or whatever the tin foil fat flavor of the month is.

I wasn't implying Bin Laden controls Saudi Arabia, I just thought the article was coincidental foreshadowing.

That pretty much sums it up. Actually capitalism is all about acceptable to everybody, if you take armies out of the picture. A seller sets the prices, and if they're acceptable, the buyer buys. If not, the buyer walks. Problem is, we've made it known we aren't going to walk away from the table without making a deal...

My energy policy is pretty simple. I use a lot of different kinds of transportation. The car is great for long trips, carrying my bike or kayak, or picking up juice and cat litter from the grocery store. The bike will get me anywhere in or near the city, and with parking & traffic, it's usually quicker than the car. Taking the bus to work gives me 20 minutes to read. All of this means I fill my tank every few weeks, on average.

true, but with the alternatives coming up today, many consumers have switched to other resources. but, I guess it wont still be acceptable to all for all this new technologies have not reached other countries yet. I don't think it would be available worldwide for the next 5-10 years.
