Apparently Google subsidiary Blogger shut down 7 anti-Obama sites at the same time during an important Hillary vs Obama election weekend. The usual excuses of "Automated process, no human involved in the closures" were offered, but it is curious how, if the process were truly random, we would here about more closures(blogger) and de-indexing(google) of anti-right wing sites.
They sited spam mail that was sent out, which referenced the 7 anti-obama sites as reason for shutting down the 7 sites. Does that mean I can shut down any site I want by merely sending out spam on it's behalf? Interesting they took 5 days to bring the sites back online. Naturally, Google's behind the scenes logic for page rank, spam detection, etc are a black box by necessity and will remain so. It leaves the rest of us to read the tea leaves to figure out how to promote our sites, shut down our competition, or figure out if there really is a bias by keepers of the crypt. It seems all a bit too much like network television in the 70s, when they were the biggest and only game in town.
