What does everybody think of Obama voting for the amnesty program Bush Co has been trying to get, with regard to FISA? A number of phone companies broke the law and violated the civil rights of millions of Americans. At the behest of Bush Co, Congress has made them unaccountable to the American people.
Although neoconmen are singing the terrorism song, Bloomberg reports that Bush started the warentless wiretap program in June 2000. Obviously, something started more than a year before 9/11 was not a response to 9/11, although lieing to the public is a great way to sneak your agenda through.
This is of course a violation of the 4th Amendment of the US Constitution. It's also a violation of the provisions within FISA for remedying violations - FISA stipulates up to 5 years in jail for this.
On July 28, 2007, George W Bush went to congress, cap in hand, asking for Amnesty for the phone companies that broke the law at his request. This eventually resulted in an amendment to FISA, giving Bush Co all they had asked for, and Obama voted in the affirmative.
