Has the highest rating and seems to be the only place that has a positive approval rating for the U.S. Leadership and the performance of the job they are doing:

Thoughts?

There was a previous thread on this. Its all the cash Mr. Bush has funneled down there to stomp out the AIDS epidemic. Apparently its had a real impact and saved thousands upon thousands of lives.

That could make sense as an explanation only if Mr Bush had followed up on his empty promise.

Quote:
The Bush Administration Record The Bush Administration has significantly increased aid to Africa, but that increase falls far short of what the President has claimed. U.S. aid to Africa from FY 2000 (the last full budget year of the Clinton Administration) to FY2004 (the last completed fiscal year of the Bush Administration) has not "tripled" or even doubled. Rather, in real dollars, it has increased 56% (or 67% in nominal dollar terms). The majority of that increase consists of emergency food aid, rather than assistance for sustainable development of the sort Africa needs to achieve lasting poverty reduction.

Interesting. You could call it two percent or a cut in benefits. His popularity with Africa and the effect of the money on the AIDS epidemic, however, are fact that even BBC and CNN begrudgingly acknowledge.

There was? I looked for one but must've missed it.

I just found it odd that that region of the world approves the most of the job the administration is doing, and that it isn't very high virtually "anywhere" else on the map.

I want to see how many American's support Sub-Saharan African leaders because I doubt we know any. Similary, I don't think this sampling from Africa gives you a good idea of actual support.

I don't think the sampling from Europe gives a good idea of actual support. I think Bush may be more popular there than anywhere else.

^ I don't think sampling from Europe gives a good idea of actual support either.

Though now I forget what I meant by "actual support" doh.
