Was anyone else amused at the number of times Barack Obama thanked the crowd at the start of his election speech?! He must have said "thank you" about 15 or 20 times... perhaps more

I love when bill clinton got the same reception and finally had to say something to the effect of, "Seriously, please stop, please keep quiet". Noisy democrats were like an unruly mob. They should have pitched Sean Hannity off the edge of the Fox News platform at the DNC and watched the crowd rip him apart.

not sure how I would react if there was 85,000 people cheering for me and they would not stop. and at the same time I am trying to go over the most important speech of my career or life at the same time. the multiple thanks yous sounded fine to me considering the situation.

it is ok to say thank you to a crowd like that, its just a more respectful or polite way of saying "thanks but please do shut up now, i got to deliver my speech" or something.

exactly. it was a standing ovation for the man they came to cheer for and had been waiting 4 days for that one moment.

I was expecting him at any moment to just start yelling "THANK YOU! NOW SHUT UP!"
