This query have many opinions based on religions, as i believe that after death there will be our judgement day and we will be asked for everything done in world, we will be granted, prized, honored and blessed on good and piety deeds which we had in world and those will be punished on different levels who spent their time in world painful for others or doing bad, worse or evil.

So I pray that we all should be living not only for ourself but for others too, helping and making them smiley and happy instead of disturbing others. May God bless us all.

I just finished a book on the subject. Written by George Ritchie the book is called Return From Tomorrow. He apparently died (for 9 minutes) and returned to life. I think asking that is like asking what happens when you go to sleep. Dying is like going to sleep but never waking up.

Your heart stops beating, your lungs stop functioning, your mind fades into nothingness and someone cuts you open to find out why all this took place. After that it's a mystery. Your beliefs come into play.
