The Vatican newspaper and radio station are criticizing James Cameron's 3-D blockbuster for flirting with the idea that worship of nature can replace religion — a notion the pope has warned against. They call the movie a simplistic and sappy tale, despite its awe-inspiring special effects.

Actually Crush, that makes me want to see the movie even more. I plan on seeing the movie anyhow, no matter what the Vatican has to say.

Well it's just a movie nothing will change if they'll think of it that way,it's better if they just ban it all!

I could care less about the vatican or avatar, i have my own problems to worry about, and it is kinda funny to me that with all the problems in the world the vatican is worried about a movie.

Well said. They should put there time into all the wars an terrorism and starvation an poverty in the world than reviewing entertainment.

Avatar is a fictitious movie it doesn't apply to any belief its just for entertainment.As they say it's just how you enterpret a movie.For me there is nothing wrong with avatar.

Doesn't Pantheism preach about the duality of both nature and God? I didn't realize the Vatican is so abrupt in cutting down religions as equally viable as their own.

And although I loved seeing AVATAR at the IMAX in 3D, take that part of it away and... meh.

I think there's a lot of issues involving the Vatican and I don't know why they insert this issues about this film Avatar. It's just a film/movie, and it's fictitious.

It doesn't surprise me that they would weigh in on any movie as a crtic, but maybe they know that deep in their secret libraries unlocks the world of Pandora and they are scared we will all one day realize that they were wrong. hmmmm.

Avatar was a great movie. I don't understand how anyone could not like that movie.

I can understand why these people might not like it.
