Seriously, what is up with this forum? There are topics on the top of the pile that were there months ago, and some haven't even been added to.

I'm guessing it's because we're primarily a web design, development, and marketing forum and so that's what most people are looking for when they arrive here. I think the politics and religion forums were mostly populated by a smaller subgroup of members and if even a few of them stopped posting for a bit those forums would slow down.
To get it going again would probably take a few people to stay active in there, starting new threads and keeping existing threads going a little longer.

Politics and religion are boring, and most people here are trying to make money and all politicians and religious leaders want to do is take it from them.

I didn't vote because I really don't know the why, perhaps different times, different age group, different ideas, but it's a good question. Awhile back in the General Section there used to be a lot of good conversations on Religion, Politics and Science, sometimes touched on current affairs, all the threads were very interesting, and each thread had several pages. There could be 2-3 conversations going on just in one thread discussing the same subject matter.

I really think this is a matter of a small group of people not posting as often. I bet if you go back through the politics and religion threads you'll find the majority of content created by a half dozen to a dozen people. Take a few of them away and the section slows down and maybe dies off for a time. Get a few people back in the section actively posting it will likely pick up again.

Especially since cbwm has been inactive. He was probably the most active person in this forum.

Because the topics discussed here are very controversial and some questions are not easy to answer at all. So that's why people don't want to answer the questions.

I think in some cultures people just don't want to talk about politics and religion, especially with strangers.
In Poland people love talk about this two things. If you could see what's going on on some polish forums: discussions are veeeeeery hot.

Yep. He was one of the people I was thinking about. I bet if he became active again you'd see that section become active again.

I think everyone should care a little. But there's a time and a place for everything, I post regularly on another site with a lively political forum.

I don't post on this forum much because my account is associated with my business. I'm not one of those people who believes that you should separate your religion and politics from your business practices. In fact, they're very much a part of what and why and how we do things. However, it doesn't make a whole lot of business sense to advertise them when at least half the people reading would be offended or disagree. I'd rather advertise our business subject matter and strengths through what I write here.

I care about and have very strong opinions about both politics and religion. Like VM this account is my business. Unlike VM I don't like mixing business with politics and religion. I don't think there's anything wrong with it per se, but I can tell you I have clients on both sides of the fence and could easily lose them. It's possible I'd pick up new clients who agreed with me, but overall I see no reason to start putting my political and religious opinions all over the web.
Besides never once have I seen any political or religious debate change anyone's mind. The debates inevitably get charged and heated and devolve into people calling each other idiot's. Some people enjoy the debate enough to put up with that. I don't.

Well, you must agree, anyone who does not agree with me is in fact an idiot.
