I have to admit, the leaked cables have been a fascinating read. Assange is definitely going to go down as one of the most significant people of 2010. I find his arguments for transparency in government compelling, but you have to wonder, how long will he be able to stand up against the pressure of virtually every superpower in the world?

I'm all for transparency, but some things are secret for a reason. The core problem is who gets to decide what things need to remain secret and what things the public have a right to know. I don't think Assange is the person who should be the person making that decision. But then again I think we can always count on governments and leaders to be self interested when it comes to controlling information.

For a while, http://wikileaks.ch/ was just redirecting to a static IP address, but it seems they're fulling hosting the site on that domain now.

I think they are doing good work as some politicians think that they can rule the world.

I'm rather surprised that it has taken this long for something like WikiLeaks to emerge. The stink over it is because it is high-profile. Yet in the field of intelligence there is cover in that there is so much information out there. Though it sounds counterintuitive, oftentimes the best place to hide and keep secrets is out in the open. WikiLeaks could also easily be exploited to spread disinformation. No need to DDoS it, WikiLeaks or something like it I believe is now here to stay. If you DDoS it, you're basically saying that there's something there worth blocking.

WikiLeaks has had their DNS terminated like many other sites in an effort to sensor the internet.

The question I want to know, will WikiLeaks use P2P DNS ?

I guess for now we can just access WikiLeaks directly from the IP address for updates

The sort of information that governments want the public to know are difficult to mask as secret information, as they are more likely to take the form of what the public is already being told. I suspect this sort of deception has been going on in the area of counter-intelligence for years, however. This just seems like a different ballgame.

Disinformation is something that's gone on for years as a form of counterintelligence. The method of delivery would be all that changes. Disinformation is already "submitted" by other means. It's not just what governments, corporations, and others want people to know; it's BS disguised as what they don't. You can even hide pertinent info in a flood of disinformation and it's a suitable shield.
