Well it all started when I was 32 and my now ex kicked me out.. I'm so glad she did because when I went back home to South Carolina from Cleveland, OH I got to see the truth on how my father was. He at the time had his second leg amputated and was 90yrs old. My mother who lived next door to him with the guy she left my dad for back in 1986 was taking care of him... I knew what she was after and that was his money from his retirement and social security.. so I had to step in and took care of my father for 3yrs 24 hours a day 7 days a week... only time I actually left the house was for groceries and just alittle time to get my head clear...
The internet was my escape... I wanted to learn graphics and web design.. I started a social network site and through that I met my now wife of 2yrs, she sent me an email asking me to put her picture up on my site and I fell in love instantly! I was like man... This has to be one of those hefty girls sending me a fake pic or something.. but then when she got a web cam.. I knew it was really her!! HA HA
She is what kept me sane through phone conversations.. Thank god for free mobile to mobile! 12,000+ minutes a month!! In the beginning I was making a few dollars here and there.. nothing really to brag about... When my dad passed away I had to go out and work, worked as a painter and gave my mother all my money to pay the bills... but low and behold we got a cutoff letter from the electric company!! I thought my mother was paying the bills?!?! So my wife now told me then that she was on her way to pick me up in South Carolina from Texas! She drove 15hrs one way to pick me up..
Since then I have been living here in Texas, the first year was rough.. she believed in me and my ideas, but it was her idea of wanting a site and my ideas of monetizing it that made us generate over a $500,000 in revenue last year! We went from nothing trying to take care of her 4 kids living at home, her mother who just passed away 2 months ago from Alzheimer's which we took care of her together all with maybe $1000 a month to making on some months over $80,000! So things got a lot easier.. But the thing is and what I want people to understand is this...
Money is great.. people always say things will be easier if I was rich... but guess what? The more money you have the more problems you can be in... Your head gets a little big and you get to a point where you start buying things and don't look at price tags.. We paid off all our debts, but wanted to get our credit better, so we started purchasing cars... well after 6 cars in a year, renovating my wife's house which is paid for which we put in close to $100,000 into it, 3 decks, swimming pool, pond, etc...
Invest your money, make more sites, save your money in high interest accounts, don't be stupid and waste it.. Pay for things in cash or in full when you purchase them.. Credit is good, but don't go over board... Our money has dropped, but we still make on average $20k a month... but it's not the same as when we were making $80k a month... trust me..
I just want to share my experience.. Just want all the young people on here to not be foolish with the money, invest it and save it.. The internet has made so many millionaires it's breaking records every year... I hope to be one, one day... But you can't put all your eggs in one basket... as the old saying goes.. play around with your ideas follow the trends... Get in while things are just starting out, you may benefit from it in the long run..
To all of your success now and in the future,
John
