Hi,

Umm, I really want to start a good site, like an auction site or something. I have the coding skill to do so (maybe not so much design but I could make it look good if i tried) but I just don't have enough confidence to start it because an auction site with no members or no postings is useless and promotion is definately not my thing.
Has anybody else had this same problem or does anyone have any tips or ideas? Please help... I really want to start a decent site but just don't think I will actually be able to get visitors.
I am not old enough to have a credit card so paying for advertising is kind of out of the question.

Without paying for advertising I think you'll probably struggle to get started in this market (E-Bay's total dominance makes things difficult). Its not all bad because there are three things you could do to get members and postings:
1. Offer an incentive for people to sign up
2. Don't charge any sort of fees until you are well established
3. Concentrate on a niche market

It doesn't have to be an auction site. Just something along the lines of that. Like maybe a freelance programming site like www.rentacoder.com. Or maybe a web resources search engine.

Ok, I'm gonna make a Webmaster Resource Search Engine.
The search engine isn't up yet because I want to get lots of entries into the database.
But if you have a webmaster resources site (hosting, scripts, other resource sites ... ) then pleeeease submit it .
