If you don't have much to spend I would recommend the following: - Set up an affiliate program on something like Fineclicks. If you pay out a decent amount for every sale, you will be able to get new customers and only pay for them once you are getting income
- Focus on any unique features you have. Anything to set you apart from the competition.
- Run limited time offers. If you force the customer to order, for example, within a week, they have less time to consider the decision and investigate the compettion, so are more likely to sign up with you.
- Offer free trials. People are far more likely to buy a product they have used and liked.
- Run contests. Find websites who have the same sort of audience you would be looking for and then offer to do a deal with them. They have some sort of competition on their site/newsletter and you offer, for example, a year's free subsciption to the winner. You will get a lot of exposure this way, and the only cost is the year's subscription to the winner.
- Co-brand. An idea could be to let people co-brand your services and sell them as their own. For example, WMT could sell the Webmaster Talk Live Feedback System, and would get a % of the customer's subscription.
Whatever you chose to do, targetting is the key. There's no point in spending money on advertising to people who don't want to buy your service.
