What's the best way to get people to your site????

I had just over 200 people to one of my sites in 6 hours, today!!
But is there a better approach to this?? I have downloaded myaffiliatefinder which can produce millions to my site...the problem is I can't get it to work!! Does anyone in here know how to use it?? My main problem is getting my ISP correct???

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
Thank you

Your confused Kiwi Bud

You need to rethink your approach to hits. Ya anyone can use one of those crappy hit generating programs to give you tons of BS hits. But what is the point? To me less more targeted visitors is much more important then tons of fake hits. You need to see who would want to visit your site, then do link exchanges with other sites who target the same people that you do. Just target the people who would enjoy your site, and advertise to them, make sure they see you.

I agree with everything Mo has said. Also I'd suggest getting your site listed in the Open Directory (www.dmoz.org). It's free, and getting into it will greatly boost your Google ranking (as DMOZ has a very high pagerank).

Some agreement and some disagreement.

It is good to get listed in DMOZ and in other listings. And targeted traffic is the very best. Targeting is going to be the best to get what you need.

However, sometimes it takes getting some general hits to start getting the targeted traffic.

I've used similar examples elsewhere, but anyway....

If 1000 general hits gets you 1 targeted, that's 1 targeted hit you wouldn't have had without the other hits. So while you're waiting on the regular targeted hits, it might be good to have some hits.

sorry if I seemed agressive haha. This is what you should do. Look for sites that are similar to yours, that would interest the same people that go to your site. Then look for contact information on that site, and email the webmaster asking if he would like to do a link exchange. If he agress, then add a link to his site from yours, and he should do the same for you. If he doesnt then just take his link down. hope that helped a little bit. Do you know HTML? if not I suggest you check this site out! http://www.echoecho.com its nice for beginers. Good luck.

2 things
1. Search Engine Optimisation:
get your site optimised and listed in the key search engines e.g. Google and directories e.g Yahoo (usually requires manual submission). In terms of PPC, Overture is the best and a vital cog in terms of getting targeted traffic to your site. Check out the Search Engine forum in WT for all the details.........

2. Link Popularity
get your site URL listed on other related sites, this will get targeted, like-minded users to your site (contact webmasters as Mo Money suggests)

it's all about getting the right users to your site, not just numbers

hope this helps. prob worth visiting WT search engine forum for vital info.

best,
D.

drag them in ur site.. just joking..

as damascus and momoney
said search engine optimisation and link trading are ways to increase traffic.

otherways include..

advertising - paid advertising in other sites

affiliate program -

join topsites.. (join only those from where you get good /decent traffic).

banner ad networks. - to an extent it is good.. even though many ppl say otherwise.. my site initial traffic came through this only..

adding ur website address to all outgoing emails..

putting it in ur signatures in the discussion forums etc..

hope this bit helps..

have a nice day. and enjoy..

Hmm adding URL website address to all outgoing emails..

Great idea it's so simple why didn't I think of that before!!!

Do you think my traffic would increase if I place naked pics on me next to my URL link???

that depends on to whom u r sending emails. to

with the url link..

and where you are posting them...

but one bad thingis... ppl would be looking at ur picture ..and would not click on the url.. cos they would be awestruck by ur photo..

Maybe the hot pic needs to be a hot link! LoL! You might not get more traffic to your site, but you'll probably get more people wanting you to send emails!

Something along those lines: When I click a pic or link thinking that I'm getting one thing and I get something that I don't want, then I usually don't go back to that site. If they use deceptive means to get me there the first time, why should I trust them.

Anyone else who is reading this thread: DMOZ is not like Google. The DMOZ editors browse the web and add links with good, unique content to the categories they edit. They also look at links that have been submitted and see if the site has good content and generally conforms to the guidelines. If it does, and you haven't repeatedly sent in your URL to totally unrelated categories, also known as spamming, you'll probably get in. But it takes a while to get in, because the editors are volunteers and are working on their free time. FYI

[note: I am not in any offical status at DMOZ, I only am a volunteer, so don't even ask me about getting your site reviewed faster because I'll do nothing about it. Thanks.]

Hi,

I agree with Dave. If I ever see any deceptive link on a website, I won't go back to that site. This also includes hiding affiliate links within a webpage. Face it -- everybody feels bad when they realize that they've been tricked. I personally would not put anything misleading on my website, but of course, I'm not about to tell you how you should run your site. It's all up to you.
