Hi,

I created a blog for a friend of mine and they've started getting abusive spam from someone. They've (the spammer) changed e-mail address 3 times and their IP has changed twice.

Using various whois queries I've found out who their ISP is, I have their zip code and who I think handles their internet connection for work where I think they've also spammed from.

I did the digging because the messages they were posting were REALLY abusive, aggressive, mean, and my friend writes about things like being on psychiatric meds which the spammer picked and started saying some really mean things in order to make my friend feel even worse than they do (we set the blog up so my friend would have somewhere to express thoughts and feelings).

What I want to know is, a) what can I really do to ensure they stop and are blocked and b) are they breaking any laws???? Can I tell the authorities or their ISP about them and would it really do anything.

Advice would be welcome, it's a friend I care about and while I've talked to them about the fact that there are some mean people out there and they will pick on people they can, I feel that this spammer has really gone to a lot of trouble to make my friend uncomfortable with what should have been a positive thing.

Thank you for any thoughts and/or suggestions.

Thank you for the advice. I spoke to the host for my friend, other than block any IP addresses that we get they weren't able to offer much advice.

(Thank you for the added option on the poll...the option was there to add one, so I did..)
