Exactly.. learn by doing.
Everything I know I first read about and then put into practice. I can often read about things but I dont truly "get it" until I actually try it myself.

Well... when I started I knew absolutely "Nothing" and thought I can pay someone to do it for me. Big mistake! :
As I knew "nothing" I didn't even know who is the appropriate person to ask neither what to ask... The first person I paid to design and build my site didn't really know what he was doing after all and it took me over 6 months to realise it. After tearing my hair off so long and stressed to max I started to learn it myself... now I think it was a good thing as it made me realise that I need to know/handle certain things for MY web business.

I purchased few e-books, checked few forums out, subscribed to some e-zines etc. etc. and ofcourse I am nowhere near the expert yet and still learning heaps every day.

hmmm. Let's see...I'm 21 years old. I started getting into technology and web design about 7 years ago. My mom had just started her career as a web designer so we learned alot together. We would just bounce ideas off of each other.

Now once she started making really good money she passed her secrets off to me. Not everything works for everybody though...most of her techniques weren't right for the sites I was doing. But, I did take all the input I received, applied it to my situation, and with a little trial and error am starting to finally make some money.

In the past 6 months my earnings have jumped significantly. I thank tons of reading, trial and error, having somebody to bounce stuff off of, resource sites like this one and countless Red Bulls to my success.

I had also done a lot of trial and error. If you do mistakes you will then learn from them. Must admit though, it is much better to get as much knowledge about it as you can so that you don't do to many errors as they can be costly and waste quite some time.

I learned by Reading, forums, and then by doing (trail & error - the best teacher). A few sites have great guides for beginners and expert marketers such as MoreNiche.com (free site) and WealthyAffiliate.com (paid membership- cheap in my opinion). These have helped me tremendously.

Was doing the BBS thing before there really was a "www", got windows, got online, got a geocities account, started spending my math classes writing code in the back of my notebook, failed math, dove deeper into the web, got in a lot of trouble for hacking, graduated highschool (yes this is in chronological order) and went to university, got my bachelors in marketing while learning web and graphic design on my own time, cut my teeth in the trenches for a few years post-grad... and the rest is history.

Last week, a guy who used to call me a "geek" in highschool pumped my gas.
