Anyone have an online store? Do you use drop shipping or do you ship inhouse?

I'm in the process of creating a website for a such a service... and I could use either option, really. I'm intersted in hearing what others have to say with experience in this.

I've heard that creating mixed use sites work really well. What i mean is a site that has relevant content, perhaps even some contextual advertising on the content pages and then a store to buy related products from. If you don't want to actually do the direct selling you could setup targetted cpa ads, kind of the same thing

Anyone know of a decent resource for finding drop shippers? I have begun doing some drop shipping both via a site and on ebay and been pulling in hundreds a month. I want to expand my offerings from the one company I have online distribution rights for to other related products from other companies.

I too would also like to know a resource. Everytime I've searched I just get led to dead-ends.

I had the idea that drop shippers vary depending on the product...

Actually this would be a good niche for somebody to fill. Somebody should do a resource site and compile a list of drop shippers. Basically, create a system to search based on a product and the drop shipper would come up. I haven't seen anything like that yet. A couple of us could get involved and do this if need be. I'm always down for new little projects.

Sorry for the newb question but what exactly is drop shipping? I think it would be a good idea for someone to write a beginners guide to owning an online store. I have been planning to turn one of my content sites that gets decent organic traffic into a store.

drop shipping is when the wholesaler ships directly to YOUR (the retailer) buyer.

It's probably the best way to do business in my opinion. You buy products at cost and tack on your 50%-60% markup. You cut out all the overhead of having to hold actual stock in house. I seriously wish I had a list of drop shippers. I'd be making mad skrilla.

I think the information is hard to find for a reason.

I ship via email.

There are plenty of sites out there with this info. You just have to pay for it.

Some of them have good lists and some have outdated junk but the lists are out there. Anyone with a good one will charge for website membership access.

Surely there's someone who's BT/DT and has a favorite dropship list supplier. Frankly, the ones I've found by Googling have such badly designed web sites that my eyeballs bleed....

People normally use drop shipping where they can have a real update of the amount of products left in the drop shipping warehouse so that people don't order and then find that the product is not available.

Some people that own drop shipping sites also have adsense ads, which is another revenue source, but realistically that is not making any good impression on your e-commerce site to our visitors. They will wonder why your shopping site needs adsense as another revenue source if you are selling products. They may think you can't be making hardly any money from your store and will not part with their cash.

Hmmm... not sure about this... I do have a shopping site with AdSense on it. In my opinion, not every visitor of my site will purchase my products unfortunately... I wish if they did. So, what I would do with those visitors who didn't decide to purchase my site? Just let them pass my site and move on to somewhere else? I thought that placing AdSense will give them more options to explore from where they are without going going back to Google Search or they can start searching using Google Search box on my site. If they are to leave my site anyway, I prefer they leave through my "AdSense doors" How do you think?

Ads are also a distraction from your products, and some visitors may click away before they even consider your offering. Less distraction means more focus on your product.

At a minimum I would make sure you aren't advertising any competing products through your PPC, and keep your products in the spotlight.
