I'll be honest. I've visited warez forums in the past, but it's illegal. I don't do it any more. And besides, when you download warez, there's like a 98% chance you're downloaded a ton of porn and spyware.

I have seen warez forums before, but I develop ALL of my web sites through my own means, whether that means going to developers, staff, or well known people. But warez is illegal, and I do not support it whatsoever.

Often times they use the excuse that it's not illegal in the country the warez site is hosted in... or if they're simply linking to warez. What are your thoughts on these two things?

if they are linking to it, they are still promoting it...

If I tell everyone about someone who murders people, well a very negative concept comes across to me. Same idea.

I won't promote it, but i am guilty of using/downloading stuff illegally.

If, for example, a software suite wasn't $800, i'd probably buy it. But they priced me out of it.
it it was $99, i'd probably buy it. but I can't swing the price they want for it. I bet they'd make more money if they sold it for a lesser price....

When I hear warez, or hacking, i think of 13 year olds trying to hack MSN. There are tons of warez out there, and chances are, you have done it. I know I have. Who doesn't download free mp3, and buy it from itunes.com? . P2P is the biggest problem here.

I think you have a good point kinkarso. I often think of big hackers of large programs, but I'm sure I might have some form of warez on my computer. Although I may have some, I don't support it at all. I especially don't support the hacking of scripts and handing them out for free.

I use warez (Windows XP) on my laptop which is IBM Thinkpad and it came with Windows XP but I one day erased that rescue partition where backup Win XP is and other ibm software so I had to download warez xp but still use my own license from the bottom of my lapton ! Is that warez or what ? Is this illegal or is it ok. I mean why should I buy new Windows XP when I have license and stupid IBM shop wants 40 dollars for Win XP Installation !

Warez are warez, why do they need a forum?

The more attention it gets, the more illegal it becomes (wierd analogy, but so so true)

I will be honest to you guys, When I was 10-12 years old I had only one forum which was www.dostiforum.com, dosti means friendship. It was limited to pakistan and the forum software was illegal vBulletin which I downloaded from a warez site.

Now a days, I don't even have time to waste on these stupid forums

Well actually if you have a legal license and you can't find the software, that may be considered legal.

i dont like or support warez in any way.
but to clarify some things if i may...

warez is only illegal if you download stuff you do now own a legal license for.
most of the time its not illegal the way you get it but how and where you use it. thats whay most of the warez forums are considered legal. but in iatbm;s case what he did is not illegal. he had a license for the software, so he went out and got the software so he could make use of that license. so to recap its not the posting or downloading of warez that is illegal ( in most cases) but when you use or install the warez, thats when it becomes illegal.

That is very true mattg. I think it gets into a big problem when you start making a TON of money off the warez. Then you break copy right rules and you are benefitting off illegal software anyways.
