The zango service is the same as 180 Solutions or Metrics Direct. They install spy ware on people’s computers via free games or screensavers or whatever, and part of the agreement is to show the end user ads. It might even come bundled with Limewire and other P2P applications. Most people have no idea they are agreeing to receive pop-ups. It is easy to uninstall so it’s not as evil as it was in the past.
It’s usually referred to as parasite ware. You can do more research here.

Basically… What it does, is pop-up Your website over other affiliates or even the actual merchant’s website. Since affiliate programs are usually designed for “Last set cookie wins” the commission. Popping up over other affiliates websites will ensure you have the last set cookie and not the affiliate website you are targeting. They might have spent $2.00 for the PPC click but you probably spent $0.03 on the pop-up to steal their visitor & affiliate cookie. (People hate having their affiliate cookies pirated this way)
This technique is referred to as cookie piracy or hijacking.
You can even pop up over the actual merchant’s website at full screen. The visitor could visit the merchant by a bookmark, but if you are targeting the merchant and they have the adware installed… You're website pops up. The user will likely click the affiliate ad on your website to return to the merchant and you have the cookie set.
You can target by website or keyword. If the keyword is on the website, like Google in the SERPs, it can trigger a pop-up. If the infected user visits a targeted website, it triggers a pop-up.
Many of the more sophisticated affiliate programs have policies against using ad ware & pop-ups. If you get caught, you will likely be banished from the program and earnings withheld. I believe the major programs like CJ & LinkShare have policies against this type of activity.
You should read the individual merchant’s as well as affiliate program’s terms and conditions carefully before you start advertising your affiliate website with ad-ware or pop-ups.
You can make some money this way, but some people don't like or allow it. It's up to you.
I have a junk computer filled with every kind of adware I can find installed on it. It enables me to see who is targeting my websites. If I catch someone, I report them.
I hope this helps.

Dave.
