If you have a website that some people might find too controversial or offensive (religious, political, or otherwise) - how can you montetize and keep your affiliate codes, account #'s, etc. hidden in case some fruitcake who doesn't find your site funny tries to hunt you down or trace you to other properties you may own.

What would be the most effective way to monetize a site like that while keeping anonymity?

If your concerned about that I would first look at my domain. Do you have your identity hidden on the registration?

Hmm, I honestly have no idea, but its very possible seeing how SaveToby.com's owners are completely anonymous and have never been exposed.

Setup a company to run it under so if it goes down it doesn't affect your other sites/interests. Use domain privacy feature when registering your domain, don't host it on a shared account with all your other sites. A controversial site could be great because controversy is always popular If you have written content, contextual advertising like adsense could work for you.

But adsense has an advertiser ID. Is there a way to take the advertiser ID and find other websites that have the same google_ad_client? Or is impossible to really trace back to other sites that use that same account?

(and yes, the registration is private)

Good info.. but becareful with adding adsense ads on some controversial sites. Some people hate it so much that they will abuse it by clicking on the ads so many times to get your account banned. I've seen this from site owners who are jealous of other competitor sites.
