Been wondering about this a bit - I've been working on a new site that I plan to launch myself in a few weeks. I'm a pretty technical so know X/HTML, CSS etc inside out and actually really enjoyed just putting this site together.

So I was wondering, is there a market out there to just create an entire site and then sell it on right away, without it having any proof of income or visitor statistics? Is this what they call the "turn key" type things?

Thanks,

Matt

Yeah, it's called a turnkey. There's a pretty big market for it and you can make a good amount of money from it.

Cool

This leads to the next question! Is there like a de facto service that people use to sell these things (like how ebay is de facto auction, google is de facto search etc), or is it more of a private agreement type thing struck up on forums and things?

Yeah I tend to do this a lot mate. Your best bet is to list your turnkey on forums such as DigitalPoint, SitePoint, here, WebHostingTalk, TalkFreelance, NamePros etc.

There're a lot of people that have the content or perhaps seo skills that they can take a turnkey product and run with it. There's definitely a market, helps people get a jump start with a new site.

SitePoint charges, digitalpoint is free, and websiteauctionhub.com has appraisal tools that I'm making for it as link-bait (watch out Digg!). You can also promote in my Site Flip newsletter: subscribe, then reply to the first issue you get with a pitch. Watch it be promoted next issue .
