What scripts have you used recently or regularly that have made you money?

I know the answer from Lee would probably be vBulletin, but what else seems to be working?

Cool... How SEO Friendly is the Joomla CMS out-of-the-box?

Wordpress rules!

Do you use anything else?

Wordpress is my script of choice right now. It's incorporated in many of my sites (live and upcoming)

As much as I like MovableType for its customizability(is that a word?), I have to say that I use WordPress more because it's much easier to get off the ground right out of the box.

I have used and tried 100's of scripts during my years online, but what I am currently using most to make money is:

- Invision Power Board
- PhpBB
- WordPress

I also have many custom made scripts for my bigger businesses.

I tested every script and CMS out there within the last couple of years. For everything non-custom-made I stick to:

- Wordpress (very cool as basic CMS)
- Drupal (for more complex CMS Systems)
- vBulletin (way > than every other forum, I still got some IPBs running though)

That's about it in my PHP Business, don't need anything else. For custom stuff I code in .NET.

I used to use B2 and then Wordpress. After a while I realised that B2 and Wordpress really weren't suited to a proper "site" style thing. Blogs yeah they're great. Proper site? Not great.

Tried a lot of CMSs, eventually settled on a really cool little neat one called sNews that suits me down to the ground at the moment - free too. Great thing about sNews is, its as easy to add content as with Wordpress or B2, but without the excessive complexity of other CMSs. Also because the entire system is contained in a single PHP file, its really easy to jump into the code and modify how it works to suit your site.

Joomla is so-so with their SEF but there's a component for it called Open-SEF that generates awesome URLs.

The main scripts I use on my sites are phpBB (about 25 instances), vBulletin (4 instances), Article Script (4+ instances), PHP Link Directory (25+ instances). I am partial to the last 2 because I sell them.

Hi Dvduval,

Are you the programmer or a reseller of the Article Script & PHP Link Directory?

I love those scripts. I'm developing a directory with it right now. It's about 1/2 way done. So far so good. It will be a "News Blog/Info Article/Links Directory" website about a popular niche when it's done. I'll be spending the next few months seeding it after it's live to the public.

Any advice for promoting & monetizing it?
What seems to work the best for you?

Aloha,
Dave.

vBulletin and Wordpress for me too.

my advice is customize wordpress's index page with the meta tags and basic SEO stuff and save a copy locally if you have many sites.
