Are you able to profit from a niche that you are not a subject matter expert in?

Are you able to make boat-loads of cash as an Amazon affiliate but don’t actually read books?

Do you have a profitable Ringtones website but no interest in even using that feature yourself?

Do you have a profitable MySpace website but no MySpace account?

Do you profit from a digital camera comparison shopping website but know nothing about cameras or photography?

Etc…

In your opinion… How important is it to be at least some kind of a subject matter expert in the area you are trying to monetize?

Or… Did you just say to yourself one day… Buying diamonds online seem to be a hot topic these days. I know nothing about diamonds , jewelry or gem stones but I understand that a lot of people are making a killing at it so I think I’ll give it a try as well.

If you tried something like this in the past… How successful were you with it?

Aloha,
Dave.

I'm sure Shoemoney knows a thing or two about Ringtones but how much did he know about it before he built his first Ringtones website?

Most of the success stories I read about are, where an Internet marketer also has a passion for something else like photography, or cars, or whatever, and combines the two skills to create a profitable website or two.

I also read about people who find a vacuum online and become just enough of a subject matter expert to jump on the bandwagon and profit before the market becomes saturated.

I know that "iPod Accessories" are a hot item right now but I don't have one. I could probibly do the keyword research, etc... But I'm not the type of person who would build a website around a product that I don't even use.

What is your method of operation?
Do you tend to stay in your comfort zone?
Do take a risk and develop websites in areas that aren't nessesarly in your area of expertise?

Aloha,
Dave.

Tried to run one on the FIFA World Cup ... I'm passionate enough, and know the game, but I had no time/patience for it. By the way, Zidane's a moron for headbutting the Italian in the final. Way to leave the game, dumbass...

Also, I had noooo clue how to monetize it.

Bookworm-SEO, Zidane headbutting was a dumb move. What a way to retire.

Back on topic, I most likely won't create a website or any sort that I don't know much about. I believe that there should be some passion that will drive you to continously developing it.

Few weeks ago, I was thinking of creating a MySpace resource site, but I'm still fiddling with that idea as MySpace is something I don't have too much interest in.
