Does everyone here do their own programming and web design? Do you get yourself a freelance programmer from RentACoder or GetAFreelancer? Are you partnered with someone who does the coding?

I do my own programming unless I can find a good CMS that will do the job well. Now as for designs, I outsource those.

I usually try to find an existing solutions first. See if it meets my needs - much as ForgottenCreature noted about finding good CMS solutions. If that wont work, I program it myself. As far as design goes, I usually take the same approach. Find a site that I really like and see if it's acceptable to utilize what they've already got. If not, do it myself. Whenever I can, I do my own programming. This is partly because I have a fulltime job as a programmer, and partly because I do not make anything noticeable with my web projects yet :turned: I also like to know how my site works and where all the links go. A control freak type, you know..

I partnered with another guy so he runs his site, finds traffic, and I do programming for him so we could split the earnings. However, that project didn't work out. The software is in a good shape, but there is no traffic and the site is almost always down due to many reasons. Pretty sad.

I am not sure if you tried rentacoder yet. If you didn't then read all their manuals and descriptions first. That will help you to avoid mistakes. Remember, software buyers there can be rated too..

I can and do usually do everything myself. However sometimes I just cant be bothered so might look for a premade GPL solution or something

I dont like paying for this sort of stuff because I know through my own experience and work that its not hard, it doesn't require much knowledge and doesn't take much time so I either get a GPL one or roll my own. Some people are having a joke with the prices they are trying to charge!

I do my own designs or I buy them off other people. I then have a few people that I hire to do slicing and coding for me and I integrate it into CMS systems like Joomla or Wordpress on my own.

We do most of it in house, though it's not just me. I have a designer and programmer that help out here, so I can focus most of my time on business.

I always design and code my own sites when it can be done using PHP and MySQL.

Most of the times I design and code my own websites, but I only have basic HTML knowledge and have to use a WYSIWYG HTML Editor to create my websites. Sometimes I have to pay for designs or something I need coded. RentACoder is a great place if you're looking for custom coding!

We do all of our design and programming in house. 3-5 full time designers/developers. Everyone has a wide range of talents. Recently brought on an seo expert as well that has gotten us very good results.

I prefer to do my design work myself but I have found that I can be more productive by paying someone else to do the design and original slicing of the design.

From there, it is usually something that I will code myself.

I do small programming jobs on my own, but have neither the time or the skill to tackle the bigger jobs. I am on the look out for a good php programmer to work with and once I get the project properly planned will probablt go to rentacoder.

But if this forum gets an active forum where people are trading php skills I could just pick someone up here as they probably understand things more. I prefer to work with people I know a little, less chance of either party being ripped off.

Generally i do the design part (logos, layouts, banners& stuff) and my bro does the coding part (asp, .net) and the optimization is made by both of us.

In years past, I have used elance.com for various graphics needs. But lately, I have developed relationships with two talented designers.

I'm a coder, not a designer; PHP, Wordpress, Javascript, HTML, etc. are my strengths.
