Hey,

I have been working on this project for 2 years now. It started in 2003 by a buddy who doesnt have time anymore. So now that i have started to do the work on it, i have been wondering how can i make this site pay for its self and maybe make money sometime. So my site is Affordable Nitro Tech we are a community for Radio Controled Car hobbiest to come together and get information and hang out. Now i have added a place called "R/C School" that is a page that have tips and ideas to get into R/C and become an expert. I have seen a lot of things about E-Books here. Is that worth making it an E-book and selling it or giving it away with advertsing in it. I have been making about $100 a month which about covers our bills but is this site possible of making more. I have thought about getting an SSL and starting a store to sell items. We are highly known around the industry so setting this up wouldnt be hard. Would that be worth it?

Just throw out some ideas on what could bring money.

Thanks,
Zack

In my opinion the best way to monetize from your niche traffic is to sell goods related to your topic. If you sell them directly or promote them as an affiliate is your decision to make depending on a lot of factors.
If you find the right products to sell you will make WAY more money than you do with AdSense.

the co-owner and myself have talked about starting a online store selling products. Our biggest problem is buying the products up front and then finding a place to store them as we both dont have that big of a house.

You might be better off joining an affiliate program for a company that already sells the stuff you want to offer. The ebook sale idea is good too if you can write something worth buying (or have someone else do it).

Personally I think having inventory and shipping things myself is a bad idea. I try to find more passive methods of making money rather than something that requires a bunch of my attention for every transaction.

Here's a few recommendations from a quick search:

http://www.hobbytron.com/cj.html
http://www.trendtimes.com/affiliate-program.html
http://www.rcdiscounts.com/acbhpusa/...6&this_help=af
http://www.nitrotek.co.uk/affiliates.php

There's a lot of options for monetization in this market. I would thorougly look through the affiliate programs I listed above. See what products they offer and what their commission structures are like. Pick a merchant you like, and start promoting the heck out of them on your site.
