mySpace is off the wall! Hitwise released some propaganda today insinuating mySpace is bigger than Yahoo!. The fine print tells another story, put that in itself is another story as well. Anywho...

With 95 Million users it is a RIPE marketing arena. Lots of people are in there spamming it with offers and doing well by it. I spend very little time there. And have never tried to monetize there. I see lots of people in this forum selling mySpace layouts and the like.

Can anyone share some success stories which may inspire some ideas? Even things that may not work anymore? Maybe some things you saw others doing that looked like they were working? Annoying things that your profile keeps getting hit with?

Here is an exploit I read about through Quadzilla's blog which has already been filled:
http://seoblackhat.com/2006/07/04/10...ek-on-myspace/
In a nutshell he is posting html to the bulletin system, and when a user clicks the link it will send the user to his website while at the same time send a email from that user to all his friends, and when they click the link it will do the same until everyone has run out of friends to click links.

What works or has worked and what kind of income is being generated off of it?

that thing on quadzillas blog doesnt work anymore, myspace fixed it about a day after he posted about it. Ive been trying to build up some proflies. I really havent figured out what to do with them yet.

Also: do you own perfume.com and boxing.com? if so, NICE domains! selling those alone could buy you a new house or two

Myspace is aimed too much at advertisers and not enough at the users (read customers). They really need to start getting some mutually beneficial grounding as the site appears like a big advertising arena.

As of right now... 90% of my revenue comes from MySpace and my layout site. It is very easy to be successful if you have a ton of friends. I just create multiple profiles and add friends like crazy. Once I get a profile to over 1,000 friends, I start sending out bulletins that direct people to a certain page of my site.

I have certain profiles that are geared towards a specific demographic, so I can direct each group of friends toward the product or page that I think will convert the best based on that type of user. I make my money via Adsense, affiliate programs, and selling text links from my homepage.

The opportunity is endless as long as you keep coming up with fresh ideas. MySpace is always looking for ways to shut down the automated bulletin and messaging programs, and users are getting much wiser everyday to fake profiles and bulletin scams.

It's all just a big game...but I think it's fun!

I haven't thought much about using myspace to promote many of our adsense websites, but I may have to start. We have a couple of sites we promote that could work well using myspace to promote them.

I hope people with ideas of how to exploit myspace for our own benefit will continue to post here, cause i'm soaking all of this in.

How do you get so many friends? Do you just do a search and add everybody? What do you do when they ask "Who are yoU? Do I know you?"

Sorry, I'm just not very wise on the subject of MySpace.

Sorry, I'm just not very wise on the subject of MySpace.

I have a program that adds friends automatically. I just set my preferences in the browse section (age, sex, zip, etc...) then send requests to everyone in that demographic.

It's all a numbers game. You will get tons of messages with people saying "do I know you" and things like that...but it's a small percentage so it doesn't matter. Your only goal is getting your message in front of as many eyes as possible.

www.adderrobot.com is a great program that i highly recommend

as far as bulletin fix this has first happened about a month ago and people found a way around it, then it happened again around 7/5 and i believe there is a fix around it again.

myspace has massive traffic, you can promote to a large audience if your product is acceptable by teen crowd that myspace has.

I saw a post about a guy wanting to buy profiles with 20k+ friends. Don't know how much he was willing to pay. But with something like an adderbot that should be easy to do. I suppose he wanted 'real' looking profiles, but who 'really' has 20k friends? I have about 6 in the real world and four of them sorta piss me off...

PM me the site(s) you are trying to promote and I'll let you know if I think it will go over well with any of my friend lists...

Also... the time of day that you send out the bulletins makes a HUGE difference

WARNING!!! Never try to add more than 500 friends in a single day, or you will have your account deleted... I learned many lessons the hard way!
