Well we have a nice little string going here with:

Spammin and Jammin on MySpace

and

Spammin and Jammin on Digg

So what about CraigsList? It's ugly, it's broken, it is full of spam and scammers, it is poorly monetized, yet it is MASSIVELY popular.

Anyone care to share some tips on how to make the most of it? I've got some goos ones that are secret... But have also had some success with selling Gift Certs for different sites. Posing as someone who got the cert as a gift and can't really use it and saying but check out the website at www.Perfume.com cause they have some really great deals on brand name fragrances. Contact me if you want the cert."

Obviously it is not about the cert but rather getting click throughs to the site.

Who's got a war story to tell?

How do you post a link on craigslist?

Do you just put in the html code for the link?

This one has my interest.
What about using it for a PR boost?
Link Text back to a site?

I assume you could use it for anything, anchor text, traffic, whatever?

The possibilities seem endless.

On craigslist, you register an account. From there you have the ability to post pretty much anything you want. You can post pictures, links etc.

I'm not really familiar with Craigslist. Is it easy to advertise affiliate programs over there?

And how can you do it without getting your message/account deleted after a few minutes. Is it possible to post affiliate links or is it better to ask them to e-mail you for more information?

CraigsList is not easy to advertise on. The users report anything that looks like spam.

A good friend of mine, Shanon Lewis, wrote a book that's very affordable and has tons of tips on marketing with Craigs List. Craig even called her and told her he liked her book and asked her to add something.

CL sux due to so much spam. You will post your ad and within an hour or so after appearing your ad will be on 2nd page ;(

I really don't care if it is on the 2nd page right away. I just like the back link factor even if it is short term.

I know this is an old thread, but I just tried CL today to see how it works. I ran one ad. It was flagged w/in 2 hours but it generated 11 leads. Anyone else using Craigs? Does anyone know if they block IPs of users they flag too many times? Or do they just delete the accounts?

I think this should be stickied...

WHY CRAIGSLIST IS BAD:

1. Your posting are deleted within a few hours.

2. Its spamming and not good business practive.

3. CRAIGSLIST CONTACTS CPA NETWORKS WITH YOUR AFFILIATE ID AND YOU DON'T GET PAID.

So unless you want to get banned from that network and you don't want to get paid, stay away from business. The internet has MILLIONS of legitimate ways to make money, why spam?

I've tried CL before.
Even legitimate ad get banned in less than 2 hours.
So imagine spam, gone in 2 minutes...
I truly believe that there are people living on CL flagging everything moving.
Doesn't worth it...

I personally don't use it, but I doubt they'll take the time to report your affiliate ID if you use other methods such as auto responders.

I use CL, but put them in the biz ad section. I've never been removed. Is there a better place to put your ads?
