So I'm looking to make some money online since I was unable to get a job this summer. And since I don't have any income already, the only source of money I have is my bank savings account. I still live at home, and for me to get my father's approval of opening a paypal account on my savings account, I need to present him with a kind of business plan of how I will be earning online. I've done some research on it but I still have some questions.

So I guess my biggest question is, is Adsense the biggest way to make money online? Does that supply most of your income online?

I know about offering sponsorships on forums and premium memberships. Are there any other major ways of earning from websites and forums?

These are the major methods that I know about but I would be open to more suggestions if there are other ways.

Thanks for any help and suggestions you may offer

Are you familiar with making sites? How much money are you willing to invest in your business? The second question is the most important. I'm poor hah, so I don't invest much, which is probably why I don't make much. Most of my money has come from link sales, NOT advertising.

Good luck.

I'm familiar with web development but I have never made any money off of them.

Probably at the start I do not want to invest much because of my inexperience. Once I get more familiar with it I would be willing to invest more. My main thing is to come out with more than I start with, lol, so that is why I want to be careful how much I invest at first.

I started out in the same situation as you. Im a student also... at Savannah College of Art and Design. I could never bring myself to get a "summer job" and work in retail or anything that involves dealing with customers cause people piss me off. So i started http://www.infinitylabs.net as my summer project back in April in hope that it would generate some money by the fall for school. It has only been up for a little over 2 months now and it already recieves 7-10,000 uniques a day and is generating very good money... more than i would make actually working anywhere. If you dont have a lot of money to invest but you have TIME, blogging is the way to go. It takes time, a lot of time, but it all pays off if you keep at it.

Thanks, but I don't really need suggestions of what kind of site to make, I already have that all planned out. All I need are suggestions of which methods are the best to make money on a site. See my first post for specific questions.

60% to 70% of my income comes from adsense and the rest from Casale banners and consulting.

I don't think it's best to base your income on one system, but to spread it around. In the end the only person who can answer this is you. Run A/B tests on a number of systems and see which performs best, which is how I found to maximise my income. On numerous times my traffic has remained constant but because I constantly test new income streams, income has steadily rose.

I don't think anyone can give you a definitive answer, as maximising revenue is a subtle and nuanced art. You simple have to apply a system of tests.
