How valuable are .CA domains as opposed to .info, .cc, .org, etc?

There are a few I'm thinking of developing, and some I may just snatch up, but they obviously are going to be more geared towards a Canadian audience right? I'd love to hear some big earners' thoughts on .CA domains.

I think they only work well for Canadian sites. Other then that I would not use one.

I can see why you would would use .ca particularly for Canada, but does it mean given all things equal; would a search engine rank a .com higher than a .ca ? how about a .net?

search engine is going to rank .CA higher than .COM when it comes to Canadian sites. If they both are equally developed.

I think if Canadians seach with google.ca, a .ca domain will rank higher than an equally as good .com domain.

I have a couple of .ca websites on the go. They definately fill a Canadian niche in my opinion. Just like any site though you have to market it correctly.

The TLD is not important at all. You may build a .ca site for North American audience, or a .us for UK... (examples) It all depends on how you promote and market it.
I don't see, why the Canadian version of Google should prefer .ca over, say, .com. The TLD is a weak to no relevancy indicator.

Ye, I don't know about google.ca.

But when I use google.nl (Netherlands) it shows Dutch .nl pages whereas google.com doesn't show many .nl websites (for the same search terms).
It's a bit different though because Dutch and English are 2 different languages and Canada and the US are both English.
