I'm very new here at EF, but don't let my small post count fool you. I have been in and out of different businesses... a lot of success has came from a lot of failures. The success that I have had is better measured in connections and friends, but barely any money. Hopefully some of you here will help me change that.

When I first logged in here and saw how much some of you have reported making I felt like I was missing out bigtime. I am young, I have bright ideas and I have a great work ethic -- I'm pulling 9 hours a day doing websites for a local corporation...

Here's my request. Since some of your are making a ton of money, i'd like to learn from you in exchange for more money.

Here are some undeveloped domains I own:

ScamCenter.com
StartUpp.com
VectorArtist.com

I'd love to partner with a few of you high earners to develop some of these domains into a profiting reality. I'd love to quit my day job and follow my dreams... All I need is a little know-how.

I'd like to see scamcenter.com developed as an online database of scam and phishing emails that get circulated around the internet. Definitely no shortage of material or news to work with either. Could have text ads for antivirus/privacy software and affiliate links to products in the same industry. I know that every time I get an email from Nigeria asking for my help in moving a 6-figure family fortune, I know it's a scam, but I look the email up online anyway.

I'm definitely not whining, I just could use a little help. I'm 21 years old, I do web design for 9 hours of my day and I'm quite frankly looking for a way out.

The perfect scenario would be someone taking me under their wing to show me how to really make a living online, while sharing the profits of their effort.

Wordpress is a great CMS, though depending on the functionality needed for your site there may be better solutions out there. Personally I'm hung up on Joomla at the moment because the site I'm building runs on Mosets Tree and OpenSEF. And disregard the above post about "whining"... nothing wrong with asking for help and I'm sure the rest of the posters here will be more than happy to give it to you.

I'd avoid wordpress or any other temporal systems for this - it just doesn't suit a "normal" content site.

Look for a decent CMS instead - there are a load of free ones you can try out for free here: http://www.opensourcecms.com/

Of course people won't tell you their secret because many people are mkaing gross $50K and then they have a ton of employees. :P

Just become a doctor or lawyer, you will make much more.

True that, I was hoping someone would see some benefit in helping me off the ground - I guess the only thing to do is hit the ground running.

Here's the deal, however, you never see blackhats and internet moguls living in million dollar mansions.

Lawyers and doctors do that. I mean, seriously, you make $100K in a month, but I am sure a ton of that is from using PPC ads on google / yahoo / msn just so people can find your site. Without a community, people will forget about the site if they can't find it. Another point is that many people seem to want to make thousands, but the only one banking are the HUGE sites like myspace ... but these sites spend hundreds of thousands on servers. I largely disagree with the "silver bullet" ... If you truly are making money, you would give one link a way. chris_, don't be fooled. Be a lawyer or doctor if you want to make money, but most important if you are a doctor you need to love it because you'll be spending a lot of time in medicine before you take home huge pay checks. Radiology, for example, pays on average $30K a month. Now, that is pretty good. AND, you don't spend money or stress setting up servers.

If you are making a ton of cash, too, you'd probably be vacationing and living in Fiji or the azores and not wasting time on a forum. Just food for thought. I really think the Internet has lost quality. I should add, and this is risky, becoming a hedgefund manager at GS is another road to riches. Playing the stock market is considerably easier than setting up cloaking site, etc. I think that most people are making their money via ebooks and consulting. It's a sure bet a lot of the "I make $50K" is gross income and also not entirely ad revenue. I've done a ton of research and I just can't connect the dots. Everything is relative. newscorp has thousands of employees and rightly makes around $500mil off myspace a year... a rounding error for an $86.4 billion dollar company.

I think he is trying to say that maybe the people who are making say 50,000 a month, are not making 50,000 a month profit. E.g. that 50,000 in income could then be respent for something like, er, I dunno - 5000 hosting, 20000 promotion, 15000 wages and so on. These are all just numbers I've pulled out of the air obviously! No idea on the real figures - but some people here are running many many sites, with a lot of traffic so there are going to be some real bills to cover.

I have to agree though, if I was making 50K a month in profit I'd be out flying my helicopter or something!

I'd be happy with just an extra £100 a month

well, I'd have to say, if he thinks that there aren't people on here clearing $50,000 per month, he's retarded. With a small amount of help from these forums, I will be up to $8k - $10k per month, by next month. That's with about $100 of overhead per month. And I hardly know what I'm doing. Some of these people on here have been doing this stuff FOR YEARS, and they know how to make real money. People who make lots of money tend to want to spend their time continuing to make lots of money. That's how you stay rich. If you go out playing all the time and blowing your money instead of working for more, you'll be real broke real quick.
