Just wondering when you guys put ads into your vbulletin. Right now I'm on a shared server so hosting isnt costing me that much.

I wanna have enough members first and pageviews before I put ads into the forum. Let me know what you guys think.

I think it would be appropriate to put up ads once you have members joining your forum. If you receive a good amount of visitors right now, then you should put up the ads right away.

Right now I'm getting about 150-250 unique vistors, I'm afraid of driving people away by putting ads up this soon!

Try implementing the ads in such a way that they actually enrich the user experience instead of spoiling it. It's a challenge, but you will surely find a way.
Don't make it too obtrusive, but don't make it invisible.
When you gain more members, make it obtrusive.

When I get my upcoming site and forums done, I don't plan on implementing ads right away. I think you need a solid base of returning members before you put up ads. Not that I have any experience, but that's what I have learned through others.

I've never had any problem with low-traffic sites having ads on them. If anything, I'm sure your visitors would get madder if you didn't have them THEN started implementing them after a while.

I think you're safe throwing up ads right away. People are used to unobtrusive ads and I doubt they'd leave your site just because you had adsense (or whatever) on it.

Crazy popups would be another story... :P

The standard vbulletin placement is on the upper right hand corner.
That shouldn't be too blatant but in terms of CTR, don't put your expectations high. It's typically below 1%.
