Do any of you ask for donations on your site? I notice that Steve Pavelina does it and it works for him. Is this a common practice?

if your project is non profit or if you need money and have no way to get them then donation is okay, but putting donation boxes everywhere is just begging.

I have a member package that kind works like a donation. Members donate 20 dollars and they get extra stuff on my forums. 1 year donations

If you have no ads and great content I think it's ok..

But these sites like iwantamacbook.com are just plain pathetic
