Hi - new to the forum here, been reading for a long time, but this is the first time I have a question, maybe somebody can answer!

When you first register an account on myspace, there is a "new user" waiting period to help fight spammers. If you start sending off messages right away, only the first 10 or so will send - the rest will send but people will never receive them.

My question is - does anybody know when the 'new user' cooling off period ends?

i sent 200+ emails from new account and then got a "user hit limit" message. I checked back a coupe days and i got banned. Im not positive what the number is but i think its under 300

I think the main concern is - how long does one have to wait before the account is considered not a "new user" ?

I haven't found this to be true, based on my own testing:

2 accounts, both created the same day and both send out the same message.

1 stopped having messaged "received" by the recipient after 100 sent
1 is still able to send to this day

It doesn't effect ALL new accounts, and there doens't seem to be any rhyme or reason surrounding it. According to people at the MySpace forums, it's a MySpace problem and they're working on fixing it.

That's why I don't use MySpace..

I uno maybe it effects most new accounts due to the fact with people marketing online?

I haven't tried mass messaging. However, I was still able to send XXX friend requests a day on an account I made like 5 days ago.

Im up to almost 700 friends on an account I started a few days ago.

I get about 300 friends per account and then make more accounts.

It's probably a bug because most of the people will send a lot of real messages.

Today myspace for me has been crap, i cant browse to find friends because i get the errors, and i cant send messages because veryone of them have "reached" their sending limit, its crap i hate it when it does that.

Myspace has new user limits.

They allow usually new accounts to send out 100-200 messages per day.

You have to wait 3-4 weeks before you can increase the level up 100 more messages without raising any flags.

Reach about 500 messages per day in 2-3 months and hopefully myspace won't notice.

I got the message limit message on a new account I had to create for a friend because her other band site had major errors.

Now that i know there are new message limits, how long does it take for the limit to relinquish so that she can start adding friends?

Well aren't messages a bit more weighted than friend requests because only 200 requests with a new account is too low. its more like around 400 still.

Geez why so many more restrictions? I know it's to limit spam and everything but this is going to really annoy some regulars, and those regulars may soon look to another community.
