The sites that have images, or better yet, scans from magazines of beautiful women and models et al. Do they make a lot of money from contextual adverts? Maybe subscription?

Can you give an example? Something like BabeGalleria? I saw that site on SitePoint and it makes $300-400/month I believe it was.

The trafficdoesnt convert well cause people view the pictures and have no reason to click ads. You wouldhave to merge the ads real well possibly and use CPM ads as well.

I run http://imagefly.info It does ok, key is controlling your costs, trying to setup your server so that you limit bandwidth. There are ways to get more relevant ads to show up which helps. Then after you reach a certain level of traffic you can start running cpm advertising. It's not the easiest type of site to run as it requires you to moderate your content on a daily basis and it's also resource intensive.

Here in Thailand, we have a lot of hosting services that allow unlimited bandwidth. So I guess I'm lucky

They say they offer unlimited but wait until you really start pushing bandwidth... at least here in the US it's often used as a marketing ploy, companies that do this will usually have some fine print that lets them cancel or suspend your account if you use "too many resources"

If you plan on having a successful image hosting service there is no way you can run it off shared hosting, and eventually you won't even be able to run it on one server...

On such a site with pictures of beautiful women and models I could make an average of $10 for each 1000 unique visitors. But that was with the PPC model with adultfriendfinder. And in comparison I made about $4 for each 1000 unique visitors with Adsense.

AFF converts very poorly for me. I'm doing revshare though....

Not worth my adspace, but I lack of real alternatives....
