I am going to do an information content site. I will be putting adsense and affiliate ads on this site.

Would I be better of with wordpress or custom coded.

There will be lots of categorized pages relating back to the topic.

Thoughts?

WordPress could be the way to go, but you need to explain your requirements a little more. With the right plugins and coding, WordPress can do pretty much anything you want it to.

Expand on your plans a little bit and you might get more useful information.

Yea, I think wordpress would be fine. You can even use one of those adsense ready wordpress templates (or whatever it's called)

My concern with using wordpress is the navigation. I don't think I have ever seen a wordpress theme with great navigation.

It's always the same. Content, sections, etc.

While I appreciate the functionality of wordpress and recommend it highly, for your purpose you might consider http://drupal.org/

I've been wanting to work with drupal. I'll take a look at it.

Anyone have any examples of wordpress sites with good navigation with lots of content?

Thanks

I'd also like to see some examples of content based Wordpress sites. I'd like to use it for my new site if I can because of it's simplicity, but I haven't seen a WP site yet that doesn't look like a blog.

I want to do a camping & hiking related site. So there will be a lot different pages. Things like information on camping, rv's, lanterns, backpacking, hiking like shoes, sleeping bags, etc.

Do you think this can be done properly with wordpress. I'm concerned about SEO of the page and unlimited creativity on the adsense and affiliate ads.

Thoughts?
