Well I think Ive found a couple of good keywords for my site using nichebot. But since im rather new at this, what is considered to be an average good ratio for a keyword (I know the closer to 0 is better but what would you settle for). Also whats a the average competing ammount of sites?

Ratio of what to what? You need two values to make a ratio, amigo.

He's talking about the ratio that NicheBot gives you (pages with the KW / searches). Anything under 10 you could do well with, but yea, closer to 0 the better.

The competition column will show you how many times the EXACT keyword appears on sites over the internet. These sites are, well, your obvious competitors, as they are SEO'ing the same keyword you are. If that column says 18, then that's an empty niche

But, on the flip side, it could be empty because no one is searching for that term.

yeah i know that, what im asking is whats the average number of a good empty niche. this particular niche has nearly 700,000 in search count and about 230 competitors. This seems pretty good to me but since im new to this i wanted someone else's take on the matter.

For one of my sites, 10,300,000 competition, ratio of 23, yet im ranked #4 in Google

Probs because my site has been running a long time though.

Edit: Does anyone know if the "COMPETITION" section number is sites that are dedicated to that keyword?, or maybe just have a page, pages or category with these keywords?

Wow you are quite lucky on your niche! Yeah, basically competition is the exact phrase. Its as if you searched google using quotations.

I am trying to work out how im number 4 in google and #3 in Yahoo. I have been for about two years now, and I set up the site with no knowledge at all about SEO. I think the reason I rank so well is mostly due to the age of the site (early 2002).....because I can't do half as well with my newer sites even though im now *smarter* in SEO lol.

no problem and yeah age does count for a big part of your rank. you might have been one of your niche's first!

Well I guess no one else will talk about competition nubers =/ shame.

I usually go for at least a 4 on my sites
