I am looking at a few new domain names to purchase. In my search for available names I found an awesome one word name that is available, BUT the extension is .ws, what does everyone think of .ws? I did a Google on this word and it came back as having 693,000,000 websites for this word, if that means anything to you.

A lot of warez sites use the .ws extention, it's not an official warez extention but that's just how it came to be and some people avoid them. I don't mind it though, in fact I like it a lot (.ws shorter than .com).

Personally, I don't care for them. They're not that well known.

There is a finite number of ".com" names available, period.

At some point, the extension will become irrelevant.

Best to secure good, solid names now, regardless of the extension.

There was once a telephone that had a round dialing disk, and it was considered the only game in town.

Same goes for '.com' It's the default extension now, but see where we are in three years.

BTW, I own a killer one-word domain with a '.us' extension and it rocks.

If you promote your '.ws' properly, they will come.

Dont forget the .ws extension also goes to supplement the income of Western Samoa from where it was originally assigned - but developed into a commercial domain selling company meaning .website

It is one of the better country names and yes, many warez etc may use it now but more and more legitimate sites are adopting it due to the marketing by the .ws domain name seller.
