I'm not as experienced on this topic as a lot of others are on here, but the first thing that came to mind, was if you could try and capture a bunch of their email addresses, so you could later market information products to them, either your own products or other affiliate products. The idea being that you can profit off of them more in the long run, than on one single day, where they may be very focused on the event, and not so willing to click on ads.
If you could somehow drive them to a squeeze page, and capture perhaps questions they still have after the conference, and then deliver informational products to your new emaillist based on the most common questions.
The promise of a free post-conference "special report" on some relevant topic, to get them to sign up with you (and capture their emails) might go a long way toward building a nice size list from all your expected one-day traffic.
