how hard is it to get into dmoz? if you do get into it and that is the only directory you add your site to, how successful do you think your site will be?

Took me well over a year to get in. When I got in I noticed my rankings improve a bit. They remained more consistent

I've found it hard to get into dmoz. Haven't got any of my sites into it yet. Editors must not let many sites through.

I've only submitted two sites to dmoz... got in the first time I submitted. :P

Just apply to be an editor for the category.

I did it ages ago for a niche thing I am involved in (in a non monetised sense) - much quicker than waiting for random editor to sort it out.

I have found it hard to get accepted into DMOZ, I did get my personal web site listed which has done nothing at all (but no suprise).

My main site though has not been listed (nearly 2 years trying) so I don't hold much hope. I'm doing ok without the listing but it's got a very high trust factor with google for obvious reasons so worth being in there.

I even tried to become an editor for the category not just to get my site listed but I know the area like the back of my hand, been turned down for that though as well

dmoz is a joke. I have a site that is over two years old and it got into the regional listings on dmoz but not the main place it belongs.

I have competitors listed in the main listing but for some reason, I can't get in. After two years, I finally requested again.

At one point, I even requested to admin the group in question. They would not allow me even though they don't have a volunteer for this area.

Got into DMOZ two times after I applied my first time.

Gotten okay traffic, I'm still waiting for them to update other directories run off DMOZ.

how do u know you've been accepted? by just checking the list?
