Hello, nice forum

As a newbie on this forum I received an email recommending an ebook. The site is pretty the same as all the others (donīt know about the book), including the "limited time offer price for only xx$". OK, I know that these big words make people buy sooner and more impulsive. But not me. Did any of these sellers any time really raise the price? Because there is no date or time on any of these sites and are probably standing like that for months with "only a short time price".

What do you think? :tooth:

It is usually either of these two:
1. They want buyers to think THEY are getting a better deal than everyone else - impulse buying.

2. They think that their product is priced to high and making it cheaper is better for sales - after all they are selling a virtual product, its not like it is a real book, its an e-book so the price can be anything.

Usually the price wil stay that "low" forever. So I guess they could be sued for false marketing.

Wrong..since the "limited time" is never specified, they are allowed to adjust how long "limited time" is for...hours, days, weeks, years etc.

Anyways, false advertising is usually a term given when the description of the product itself is false and misleading, not usually for the price of the item.

Yoey is right, just like savetobey.com, he was not scamming even if he never killed the rabbit just because he could say well the donation amount was reached and I won't kill him. Is save tobey a bit immoral or unethical? Depends... Is it illegal? Nope. So saying it will be raised soon isn't false advertising, saying it costs 100$ and then they pay 300 is.

This is marketing man. These guys say they have a special offer for you if you sign in now. But the truth is, the price will stay the same. They only want you 2 deside faster. That doesn't mean they dont have a good product. They just want 2 sell faster.
Check out my site an let me know what you think about it.

Greetz,

People HATE to lose out on a deal, and fear having to pay more for something they could get cheaper right now, so tactics such as that one you are seeing create a sense of urgency, and capitalize on that fear.

I have seen some scripts that raise the price of an ebook with every sale. So the first guy pays a nickel, and the price goes up with every sale after. Those kind of offers are actually fun, when you get a good ebook for $1.05 instead of $29.95 and up. That kind of script also creates a good urgency story..buy now or pay more in 5 minutes. Kinda cool.

You haven't fallen into the trap have you? Just joking. Sometime limited time offers are legitally limited time offers. Other times it's an aspect that creates a sense of urgency for the buyer.

Most buyers don't know anything about marketing tactics and therefore are succeptable to these techniques. But being the marketing minded fellows we are, we know better than that.

Chances are you'll come back later and that midnight on September 7th deadline will be "magically" pushed back to September 10th, then 11th, then 12.. Get the picture?

Most sites don´t even have a date. So the special offer can be unchanged for a couple of months ...

The majority of honest marketers will increase the price.

If they don't do it, they will not make more sales, because they lost credibility.

Until now, I am an affiliate, but I have some products almost ready.

I will use this tip, but I will increase after the date.

It's a way to increase your sales at the beginning.

If that were true, then why do all the marketers that are pushing "Make Fortunes Fast" products or other marketing to the marketers products utilize the same tactics? Being aware doesn't necessarily make you immune, though I must admit that I tend to ignore anyone that tries to pull these tactics on me these days. Even Joel Comm has been put in my spam filter now, as he tries this about every other day on one product or another.

I believe I said being unaware makes you more succeptable to these techniques. I'm not saying that the 'marketing to marketers' sales letters are not using these techniques.

I'm merely saying what you admitted yourself. If you are more aware of what is actually happening you are less likely to buy a product on a limited time offer rushed-purchase basis, rather than a thought through basis.

Am I the only person who sometimes goes back to an ad for something they have no interest in buying just to see if the price went up after all?

Or do I just have too much time on my hands lol
