Sorry to hear you lost your job. I would advise you take few weeks holiday to evaluate you strength and weakness. Find what you're good at. I would suggest you find a job first to pay the bills and then begin to search for internet opportunities to suplement your income untill you have enough money to start full time internet home business

I think you would do well to go for a part-time job, then look into some good money-making opportunities on the internet. Watch out for scams, but there are some really great opportunites that don't cost and arm and a leg and can actually generate some long-term residual income.

I am so glad that you brought that up. I have been told that I have a flare for writing erotic stories. Are there sites that you can sell your erotic stories to, or can I create a site where people will come to pay for my stories? and if so where do I find these sites?

Even if you made a pile of money today via online sources, it would most likely be a hunk of time before you have that money in your pockets to pay your rent.

Get a job. Take the immediately pressure away.

Then get busy on your sites, finding the most ethical way to make use of your sites with content and advertising.

Making money takes time. I wouldn't gamble your rent on it just yet.

Actually, there is a way you can satisfy your urge to hit it rich online, and still work part time or even full time.

Although I dare not suggest to you with getting your sites to make money (there are others here who actually make money vs me), you can get an "online" job.

Some income streams you can get, still be at home, and do it at your "own time":

message posting for a fee - will make $0.05 or so per post
article writing - depending how good you are $10 - $100 for 500+ word articles. You can crank out a dozen a day, at $10, that's $120 or $600 a 5-day week. Families live off of that in parts of the US.
Online customer support chat/voice - Companies will pay you $8 to $15/hour for sitting online and taking calls both in chat or VoIP based telephone calls and answering basic questions (like what colors does that shirt come in, or order information).

All three requires that you do some research, but have a short ramp up period. Within a week or so, you can be making $100 to $200.

I lost my job also. I needed some time to "recuperate" after the experience and realized it was the best thing for me. After a period of adjustment, I decided to trade my high-paying stressful career for something I really wanted to do (my own business).

I have taken a part-time job and also started working for an online customer support company. Both do not pay me much but they have given me some freedom to concentrate on my business with the time to spend on it.

It takes a positive attitude and motivation (what better motivation then bills and a lack of money), but my biggest problem is staying focused.
