How often do you send out newsletters? Where do you get your content?

I send mine once a week or twice a month. I find it's a hassle though, and takes up a lot of time. Anyone hire people to write their newsletters for them?

Yeah - I worry about copyrights, etc. How do you know what's legal?

Yeah you hire writers? I don't get your reference to legal stuff.

Update: I've decided to move some of my blogs over to feedblitz's newsletter by RSS.

Depending on your newsletter, and its topic (and what people agreed to recieve) you should mail as you said, or once twice monthly if that works.
the about what, well, theres lots of article directorys and sites out with tons of writers' articles, many can be used if you include the resource box, or yes you can hire writers (need research/collating and writing done??)
-just search up things that ar ein your field or newsletter subject, add your opinion perhaps, start a discussion, heres a thought:
ask them stuff, ask them a poll, ask them what parts of "seo" they need or want to hear, i bet they will happily tell you .
Hope this helps some ideas come up
have a Great Day

One of the most powerful ways to bring people to your website is to have sign up for your opt-in email list. Once someone signed up you can send them tips, articles and special offers, and keep reminding them to visit your website.

Alternatively, you can start your own ezine either you choose to write it yourself ( abit difficult), or publish some of the many free articles available on the internet which can be reprinted as long as the author's resource box is retained in the article.

Once you have every thing set up,then next step will be to look for some subscribers. One free way to do this is to search for ezine directoies on Google and submit your website/ezine in these directories or you can use some software such Ezine Announcer that will do it for you authomatically.
You can do this on a tight budget.

Thanks for sharing folks. Nosa, I appreciate the info, but you might care to be a bit less generic and answer questions directly (sounds like you copy-pasted something stone evans wrote in a pips article).

Bookworm-SEO, Nosa gave some tips and I didn't find any such worded advice elsewhere. So I wouldn't label him/her as post junkie, just yet.

At any rate, Feedblitz offers blog subscriptions by e-mail as far as I know.
Blogs have always had subscriptions by RSS. So you go with Feedblitz delivery via e-mail, not RSS? I have that one too, but only one of 1k unique visitors has subscribed to my blog via e-mail so far (and that's not me).

I've heard time and time again there is money within your email list and on one of my forums I have about 6,500 members. I've had the site now for about 4 years and I've still yet to find a decent way to make money on it.

However as for the question, I personally don't like to get newsletters from one company more then once a month. Anymore then that tends to be annoying and I usually end up un-subscribing to it.
