i run a photoshop tutorial website and i'm eager to add more unique tutorials in a bid to keep my uniques high (currently average 150 per day for the first month).

the balance between investment and ROI is not how it should be. I pay around $8 - $10 per tutorial and need some sort of return but I'm not getting it.

I have adsense and a popunder on the site.

Do you have experience in this field? If so, how did you manage to become profitable?

Because when people think of Photoshop tutorials they automatically go to good tutorials or pixel 2 life, or a forum they are registered on.

Plus if your not advertising how will they know about your site.

I suggest you simply become good at photoshop and stop paying for tutorials yourself. Build a community and members will make tutorials for free, offer them something in return, use your imagination on that one.

What sites do you submit your tutorials to?

What kind of tutorials are you having written for the site?

People tend to look for the same types of things.

Take a look at Good-Tutorials and see what gets the most clicks and then have tutorials written about that subject.

Good Tutorials Used to send a ton of traffic when I ran a tutorial site. The best thing to do is create unique tutorials with outcomes people really want to do and get them to the front page of digg.. do a search on digg for photoshop tutorials and see what makes it.
a sin city poster tutorial made it as well as some realism things.

I run the site xonium.net myself so I know at least a bit in the photoshop tutorials niche, (I don't update that site alot though). But when I do submit a tutorial at good-tutorials.com, I do get enough visitors so make a decent revenue. Last tutorial I submitted I got about 3-4k visitors for that one, which made me $20 the first day, and then $10 the next day. When I dont get those loads of traffic my daily income is like $0,5. So just submit your tutorials to good-tutorials.com, and get a decent ctr, about 2-3% is enough if your ppc could be something like mine, $0.13 / click. And you should see revenue similar to mine. Sometimes a tutorials at good-tutorials get's 10k views. This could easily bring in $100.

Well if you're looking for a place to submit, I run Tutorial Outpost.

I get around 6-8k visitors per day so most tutorials get a decent amount of traffic...especially over time.

This is my first tutorial site so I only ever submitted to good-tutorials and pixel2life

I think there is money to be made, I just need to add more content and submit more tutorials to major sites.

Thanks for all your help + links!

I submit my tutorials to about 15 different sites (this being one of them  ).

There are way more than that, but I chose the 15 ones that I think bring me the most traffic.

There was a site out there that listed the level of traffic of a bunch of tutorial directory type sites but I can't find the URL of it.

Here is some of where I submit to:

Good Tutorials
Tutorial Outpost
Tutorial Kit
Pixel2Life
DaTutorials
Photoshop Guides
WD Tutorials
PimpMyCom
FSTutorials
King Tutorials
Hot Tutorials
Tutorialized
Total Tutorials
Photoshop 101
Tutorial Submit
EzGraphicStudio

Enjoy!

Not sure exactly how many, but here is how I view it.

I get the big jumps from the bigger sites like Good Tutorials, Tutorial Outpost, Pixel2Life. But they typically take a few days to get listed.

The other sites keep up that daily traffic in between those days that I get listed on the larger sites.
