From http://www.alexa.com/site/help/traffic_learn_more#reach:
Quote:
...if a site like yahoo.com has a reach of 28%, this means that if you took random samples of one million Internet users, you would on average find that 280,000 of them visit yahoo.com. Alexa expresses reach as number of users per million...
In other words, it's the percentage of Alexa toolbar users that visit that website. (Or number of users per million if not expressed as percentage).

You can use the alexa rankings of sites where you know the real traffic vs other sites and guess approximately how much the other sites are getting.

E.g:

http://www.hotel-online.com/Logs/usage_200607.html (~700k visits)
http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?w=379...tel-online.com (~50 daily reach per million)

http://www.osgov.com/stats/usage_200607.html (~325k visits)
http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?w=379...uxmachines.org (~40 daily reach per million)

http://www.unf.edu/usage/webalizer/usage_200607.html (~830k visits)
http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?w=379...&y=r&u=unf.edu (~20 daily reach per million)

I couldn't find any webalizer logs for any really big sites, and alexa doesn't show rankings for really small ones.

Also, for some sites it's not a very good metric (like edu sites), so don't depend on it for anything important.

You could try sites like: http://www.trafficestimate.com too, but most are probably based on alexa.
