Proxies are considered by some as "cash cows" and many earn a high amount from adsense.

I recently started a proxy that is receiving between 700 - 1,000 uniques daily. Not a huge amount but still enough to make a possible ROI (return on investment).

I have adversal running on the site and a little Adsense link menu, however I'm earning less than $0.50 per day thus far. I was thinking of selling ads privately however many people say proxy traffic is considered "trash." I am going to try all the avenues available until I find one that best suits me.

What steps would you recommend to monetizing a proxy?

I would use different varients of the AdSense ad's other than the textlink box. Usually you get higher CPC from say a large ad box compared to text links.

Also privatly sell textlinks and banners on the main page and on the "surfed" pages and have them pay by impression because the proxied pages can get a lot of impressions. Also when adding different AdSense variations make sure you make them blend well!

Becareful though.. proxy sites are bandwidth suckers and can use up TONS of bandwidth so just be sure you can handle that.

I've seen some placing CPM banners there from networks like valueclick, I am guessing they applied with a different site as those big CPM networks no longer accept proxies.

I have a value click account and I applied to add my proxy but got declined.

I don't want to risk losing my account by placing banners on there.

Try pop-unders with adversal.com The guy that ran siteunlocker.com before he sold it was making $10-$12 a day with adversals. You get $1.20/1000 page views. Maybe it will work for ya :thumbup:

Adversal and Adsense is about the only way to monetize a proxy. I applied to several smaller ad networks, but they all declined me. I had bidvertiser running, because I've heard that they allow proxy sites, but I got pulled after a couple of hours ....

As an alternate way to make some money, I would sign up for an affiliate program like azoogleads, and place some text link CPA offers in the top frame of the proxy. I would think that some of the ringtones or contest CPA offers would work very well for you.

A proxy site is an online tunnel/gateway you use their connection and not your own to access the website(s)

Do a google search and you'll see what I mean

It looks like your on the right track to be, adversal and adsense is the way to go I think for proxys.

Just put adversal on my proxy...averaging about 700 uniques a day..and that is bring me ~$11.00/day with adversal and $2-$5/day adsense...with the amount I pay for monthly hosting my roi is great

I've got ~3500 uniques on mine and ~$6 a day
