I have been using the Text Links Ads affilate program for a while. Until today I have a massive total of $0.00 My blog does not have the largest amount of traffic in world but I would have expected at least one click. I am beginning to think is it really worth the hassle of it all ?

Does anyone have good news about this affilate program. If so do you require a whole load of traffic to make it profitable ?

Thanks

I thought TLA didn't operate a PPC policy? People buy a slot on your blog, and their link goes there for a fixed time and a fixed fee?

That's how it is.

Thoguht so. k_nomad - if you're meaning the blog in your signature, it's not really targeted at people who are likely to want to buy links. They're coming to read about politics..

You need to improve your back links and overall site quality (PR too!). Once that's done, you can start selling text links for 20-30$ per month. (You could get 10 x $30 ..)

This thread is talking about two different things at once: the Text Link Ads affiliate program and Text Link Ads publishing.

The OP is talking about the first. WillB is correct. The affiliate program likely only works on sites catering to webmasters, etc.

Being a Text Link Ads publisher rocks! Easy and good payout.

Text-Link-Ads total horrible.

I have a blog using it (not affiliate), and nobody purchased the link even its relatively cheap judging from the traffic and everything.

Finally after half year, one of its link sold for $15 per month.

Then at month end, I got my payment: $5+ from them.

$5!!!!!

2 of my text link ad spots were sold within my first week of signing up. Having a pr of 5 or more helps

I agree. Many who buy the links are looking for the long-term PR benefit.

The reason the links are not selling might be your fault. Now before you fly off the handle, you may be able to do something about it.

Most people who are searching for links will do based on specific keywords. If you don't have specific keywords in your description on TLA, then people will never see your site. If you have a description like "A personal blog about one super cool guy.", then you can expect no ads unless you have a super hight PageRank (PR) or Alexa rank.

What is best to publish on TLA? Niche sites! If you have teen ringtones, thanksgiving decorations, halloween costumes or anything else like that then it is great.

TLA, sadly, is not for brand new sites to publish. New sites don't have the background statistics (ie PR and Alexa rankings) to judge what links are worth.

Expect 0 traffic from TLA unless you are going to pay for a really well placed ad. TLA is more for niche link building.

Bad idea. Assume that google disables (or soon will disable) the PR-passing ability of any site that broadcasts to the world that they are selling text links.

I personally dislike tla, I prefer to sell the links myself, I can give a much better price, and still make more that I would with tla, for example, tla is selling links on my site for $80 a pop, I get $40, so, why not sell them myself for $45 and skip the intermediate man who gets an extra $35 bucks! everyone wins, buyer and seller.

if selling textlink ads to other people doesn't work why not try to push a sponsor yourself? Join a CPA/aff network (whatever) and create 4 links (that you would have sold) and see if you make any money that way.

Google knows these things. The people who work there are very smart and have programs methods of detecting purchased links .
