yes, you can make loads of money off of mmorpgs in real life, second life will be no exception. however, the issue is that this is most of the times just hard work, as you would have to be an expert in some certain field which takes lots of experience and playing time.
so, there is no way to get rich quick other than exploiting the game mechanic flaws, but even that would require a certain technological knowledge in order to be a first mover (and hence first earner).
so, for a steady income stream and solid business, it would require honest motives and a product of value for the community. but that would require some enthusiam towards the game itself, whatever it is and not just a pure sales attitude.
a product that always goes well, are "newbie guides". and if you take that literally, and make people pay real money to guide you around in any mmorpg to show you the best places and such you could actually have a business case, as you could lead around 5 people paying $5 an hour each by someone who does it for $5 in total.
