****, while I slave over my websites to make a few extra grands and consider it a success, some cluless b@tches just accidentally stumble into businesses that make them $10 million in one year.

Stories like this one (How One Mom Accidentally Built And Sold A Ten Million Dollar Business) totally piss me off.

Are we all wrong chasing the money if to get REALLY RICH all you need is luck. Like with this lady and YouTube?

BlueMountain is another incredible story. They sold a couple of servers in their garage for $800 million or something silly like that.

The best ideas are often had entirely by accident. A good idea will usually run itself to huge success, if the power and uniqueness of the idea is strong enough.

Find the story of how velcro was invented, I love that one.

Just be happy for those who have been fortunate and keep working hard. Don't let success stories discourage you, they should motivate you.

Agreed. Hearing stories like that lead me to think I might be able to accomplish something of that nature one of these days.

A lotto winner is lucky.

This person saw an opportunity, came up with an idea, took out a home equity loan, set up shop in her basement and went to work. Sorry, but that sounds like a person with a vision, work ethic and a willingness to take risk, not a clueless "B" or someone who made it strictly off of luck.

Right idea at the right time is a great start. Don't think the implementing of their idea, including production and marketing was "accidental".

The media like to make out it was all a lucky fluke - bullcrap.

As an Actor I have now almost "made it" - soon I will be "discovered" and be an "overnight success" and labeled "lucky" by the masses - I do not know why they do this. The truth is I have worked my butt off for 20 years to get where I am today and sacrificed a lot (ie if I had taken an office job I'd be like my mates earning $150,000+ a year in a safe environment).

You'll find the same thing is the real story for these people too.

The media seems to have some sort of vested interest in trying to keep the average person down rather than telling them to get off their butt and chase their dreams and get it to...

... maybe the reporter feels inadequate and therefore puts it down to luck?

I am of the believe that we are definitely in the right business. Of course like any other business, there are people on the net that are going to make a lot of money and those that wouldn't. That is just the way life is.

However, you have to position yourself so that when opportunity comes your way you are ready to grab it.

Success stories are there to motivate each and every one and it just goes to show that anyone can be successful with a lot of determination and effort/

Dont let the hype get to your head. Get to be realistic. Set small goals and work your way up.

Absolutely. I get very tired of the whining and moaning and the expectations that if you build it, they will come.

Its hard work, day in and day out, work ethics (long hours, persistence, legal activities) and constant tweaking to get things right.

That money didn't fall into that mom's hands. She saw a need and she filled it with her own hard work, her own money and her own determination. Nothing clueless or lucky about it.

If you think its about luck, go buy a lottery ticket instead.
