Hi, I have a PC video game Hightailed (www.hightailed.com) that was published roughly 2 years ago. I've considered making it freeware and selling permanent links from it. I'm also considering adding text link ads (via TLA) for the site.

I'm wondering how much worth is a PR5 ranked domain like hightailed.com? If I was to make the game freeware I could put the links in visible place.

How much would you recommend charging or how much would you pay? (I don't have traffic stats, and the game is no longer updated, but a permanent PR5 link much be worth something)

I would honestly suggest making it a free game to download. Then sell text links or sponsorships on the website. For 19.99$ these days you can get very good games.

You should contact other pr5 game/software sites that sell ad space and see what their rates are. Something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it, and that would be a good way to find out. Don't contact forum owners or large freeware download sites.

When I'll change the game to be freeware I'm going to make a press release and another directory update (which will probably bring some instant traffic and help strengthening the PR5 rank)

I have considered selling 88x33 image banners (for greater price) and then two kinds of text links (regular and bolded) to be placed on the right side of the site (the links would replace the images/stuff that's currently on the right side of the site). I might also sell links for the footer of the site.

I'm considering selling maybe 100-300 slots, and the pricing would be something like $10 (footer), $20 (regular), $30 (bolded) and $50-100 (88x33 image banner). The links should be family friendly (although I might accept gambling links). As said, the links would be permanent and site will be here at least for several years (2010 minimum, maybe even more).

As the game would go freeware the number of visitors / downloaders would increase, while the main idea of the sale is to help building PR rank.

How would these rates sound to you? Are they reasonable?

Heh, quite strange... yesterday it was PR5 (even tested using those "validate PR things"!), but now as I mentioned the URL here (coincidence?

) today it dropped to PR4.

How strange is that?

I have just changed the game to be FREEWARE (basically players are free to download and play the game).

While the site doesn't receive much traffic, it's very strong PR4 site that was bought at September 2004 (and game launched in Jan 05). Even though the game/website won't be so actively marketed I will be doing the following promotion efforts:

- I have just initiated a manual directory submittal for 150 PR4+ directories
- I will purchase another submittal for 450+ directories for a PAD file (150 directories will be about the website, while the PAD file will give information about the game).
- I'm also going to make a press release regarding this.
- I will keep the site linked from daily update high traffic blog (see my signature) and will mention the game now and then.

I will sell 30-40 permanent link slots in a prominent place (in the right side menu), introductory price is $36 for a permanent link. PM me (and put link URL to this thread) for more payment details or if you have some questions.
