Do you have site that has a good amount of visitors but very little profit from ads? Give you customers a cookie.

When I say cookie, I mean an Amazon or eBay cookie. You can forward people through various links to eBay and Amazon. Their PC then sets a cookie that will give you a commision if they buy something.

What are the chances that a visitor that you sent to eBay is going to buy something? 0% (unless it is targetted to a specific ad).

0%? Why the :censored: would I want to do that then? The reason is that it the cookie lasts for several weeks (unless somebody else overwrites it with their own). When the visitor that you sent to eBay goes back and buys something in the near future, you get a commision. The same goes for Amazon.

The trick here is your ad. You can make it anything you want. It can use a keyword on your page, or it can be a joke. You can even have it open in a new window so that the cookie is placed without the person leaving your site. A simple "Please Don't Click Here" link will give you a 1-5% Click Through Rate. If your other ads aren't bringing in money, then cookie them!

Do you have experience of doing this? What sort of returns did you get?
eBay and Amazon's affiliate programs have such tiny payouts, is it worth
it?

I can almost see an ethical debate arising here, but I'll ignore it for now.
