Has anyone got any experience in using premium rate SMS text
messages to monetise a site?

A recent example: http://GrabACondom.com

They've stopped taking orders right now, but the idea is still there.

I'm looking for a provider in the UK.

I've used Allopass which allows you to make some parts of your website private, and users can open this section by sending a premium rate SMS and they receive a code which they input in your website form.

Allopass can also be used as an ad farm, users get their code either by phone voice, premium SMS or by credit card. It's available in several languages and in the UK.

Cheltenham-based TxtLocal seem quite good, though I've never used them.
